Shinaida is talking about a survey she is conducting to learn about people’s attitudes toward restavek. Many people are agreeing if the government would help develop the countryside it would prevent many children from falling into restavek. (Taken with Instagram at Port au Prince)

I’m amazed by how strong many of the children in our program are. One of our child advocates writes this about a girl in our program: “she is anemic. She is skinny, her hair is falling out, and her body itches. She could pass in school if she had time to study, but she has housework before and after school and no electricity.” But then the advocate writes “She is very open, smiles, is expressive and hopeful and wants to be a doctor and learn how to sing.” there is so much we can do to help these kids and so much we can learn from them too!
