From Shilah, who visited Haiti with Lee University.
Going to Haiti undoubtedly changed my life forever but being able to visit the Restavek Freedom Foundation’s transitional home was definitely one of my favorite parts!
I had been told of some of the girls’ situations before we met them and I expected them to be very withdrawn and isolated. That wasn’t the case at all. They were a little shy at first but after getting warmed up to us they were acting just like other children, friendly and silly and playful. I felt like that spoke volumes for the Restavek Foundation and what kind of job they are doing. Restavek Freedom Foundation is helping these girls to readjust to a normal lifestyle and live a healthy life. From my experience, although it was brief, I admire what this foundation is doing and am continuing to pray for the little girl (pictured) who I personally got to work with and all the other young ladies in the transition home. Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with this wonderful foundation.
